6 benefits of sport: why we need a healthy & active lifestyle?

Dear friends,

Today I will talk about the benefits of sport and how an active lifestyle can make our lives more beautiful and healthier.

It's hard to imagine a healthy lifestyle without practicing sports regularly. Movement is life, and sport helps you have a strong and healthy body. Sport is an universal medicine for stress, depression or fatigue.

Lack of outdoor movement, sitting in the office or at home, or in other words - a sedentary lifestyle - predisposes to fattening, which has a detrimental effect on the health and the duration of active life.

Here are 6 benefits of practicing sport:

1. Accelerates detoxification of the body

Sport is the best remedy to improve the functions of the lungs, heart, kidneys, nervous system, especially as it facilitates the removal of toxins and metabolic waste from the body.

In addition, it will be much easier to keep your weight under control, especially as sport has a great influence on the fat-muscle ratio in favor of getting muscle tissue.

2. Sport improves our mood

Any form of sport we choose relaxes and escapes the tension accumulated every day. It is an excellent therapy with visible effects. When we practice a sport that we like, the results are formidable because then our body secretes the hormone that makes us happier and helps us relieve stress and drive away the depressive states we face.

3. Sport reduces the appearance of certain diseases

By practicing exercises, blood circulation is improved and organs in our body function in normal parameters.

The benefits of sport are primarily felt in the heart, increasing the amount of blood it pumps, blood can circulate more easily through the arteries and veins. Because of the frequency we breathe during exercise we train our lungs to breathe stronger and to provide us the amount of oxygen we need.

Sport has a beneficial action on the digestive system. Exercises help the stomach to digest food, thus preventing constipation and its negative effects.

Sport regulates the endocrine system, exercising increasing the level of estrogen in the body, preventing hormonal imbalances, irregular menstrual cycles, ovarian cysts.

There are studies that have shown the benefits of exercise reduce the risk of developing breast cancer by 20%, the result being more evident after menopause.

4. Sports increases life span

Sport has beneficial effects on chromosomes and longevity. More time spent in nature in motion has a direct link to longevity, according to the Swedish study published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine.

5. Sport makes you eat healthier

Sport disciplines changes habits, helps you to adopt a healthy lifestyle and to have a healthy body. Research shows that people involved in regular physical activity are more aware of the importance of a balanced and healthy diet.

6. Sport makes us sociable

Given that stress-relieving exercise helps us to have a better physical condition, we become more confident in our strengths and more optimistic, thus increasing professional and personal performance.

Physical exercise also helps our body to release pheromones.
Also
Studies have shown that females can tell how healthy a man is just by viewing a patch of their skin even when the rest of the male is covered up!

I believe every word you said is true.
However, in my experience people seem to be scared by the word "sport". I think they see it as completing a Iron man triathlon or the tour de France. Maybe they should focus on their daily needs of exercise. Like taking the stairs instead of the elevator, or getting your own coffee in your break. Les scary, also good for the health.

Indeed, and people should play life as a little competition. Taking the stairs and try to beat they're best time getting upstairs (or downstairs). Make daily movements fun!

That's right, we're doing sports to keep fit. I like to promote health and encourage others to have an active life. Now I checked your blog and I see you're a sport teacher. Very nice.

Yes I am. Full time in the Netherlands! I like almost all sports, but most of all windsurfing!

Good reasons, this year I want to do more sports !

So true! For me personally, regular activity is as important for maintaining mental health as it is physical health. If I don't ride my bike or hike on a regular basis, I tend to get depressed. Also, I work in a creative field, and I feel like I need physical activity to drive my creativity. People tend to only think of exercise as a way to keep the body fit, but it is so much more than that. It is necessary for mind, body, and soul.
