Chaos at Globo's? Order @MSP-Waves?
Both... 😂
You bet. Lot's is going on. Big plans for MSPWaves Radio, and for me personally also. But this post is about MSP Waves Radio, not so much about me.
MSP Waves rocks. With 21!!! 2-3 hour shows currently regularly scheduled, and @SirCork, @r0nd0n and I sometimes bridging unscheduled times with music and talk, the station is broadcasting 24x7. We run a DJBackfill bot to keep you entertained, even when no one is DJaying...
Being involved in the MPS Operations team has satisfied my need to fix corporate ops without having to work for one. Geekish weird. I know. But, we have so far defined the New DJ on-boarding process, which starts with a chat and a written questionnaire... and the technical setup guide, which we are beautifying as we speak.
How to Get On the AIR?
Permit to Operate
In order to give any new DJ a fun and productive New Show experience, we counted our blessings and analyzed our experiences from our own paths and recent on-boardings onto MSPWaves. We have, as a team, devised processes, which will allow a new broadcaster to capitalize on our experiences to deliver the best possible content and audio quality when the a new show premiers. Curious yet? OK... Here it is in a diagram.
Confusing? No worries, no need to understand all the gates, which are just approval stages in the process and the Ops team will guide you safely through each. It simply outlines the general path to Going Live and staying on for years to come.
NDJ Questionnaire
This document is our questionnaire, the first step once someone expresses interest in hosting a show on MSPWaves Radio. It tells us about your show, the technology available to you, your computer expertise, etc. It's helpful to the NDJ to formulate the show ID and think about commitment and other important aspects of becoming a DJ on MSPWaves Radio.
Gate 2: Show Schedule Coordination and Technical Guidance
Here we review schedule and find the best available time slot for you, making sure no-one else can grab your desired broadcast slot. Some things our MSPWaves Administrator is doing in the background, while pointing the NDJ to the technical installation guide.
Now, the NDJ will follow the brand spanking new Technical Guide we have put together. Even with only little technical understanding, anyone should be able to follow our instructions. We wrote the technical guide to make it possible for people at any computer literacy level to succeed.
Some basic knowledge on how to find your way around your computer though, we would hope you have it. And if not, it may be best to team up with a friend who knows more about that computer thing if you're not comfy doing it alone. But no worries - we are here to help - and do so gladly.
Gate 3: DJ Testing
Now that everything is installed, let's test the basics - and run through your new Broadcast setup, making sure all knobs are set right, and you sound great. You will record a test broadcast. If all sounds good, and if you are comfy with the new software, it's off to Gate 4...
Gate 4: Test Show Recording
Let the FUN begin. Now it's all up to you.
Prep for a show, as if it was live. Host it, run it, record it.
Make up an audience as you go along if you want to, because when broadcasting on MSPWaves Radio, some of your listeners will be in the MSP Waves Discord Audience Chat, where you should be, too. This makes MSP Waves Radio interactive and very dynamic. It's a great chance to build rapport with your listeners and connect with the wider MSP Community. Make sure to have a look, even if you're not planning for a show.
Once the Ops Team has listened to the broadcast and given feedback and all is well, it's off to Gate 5... Almost Done!
Gate 5: Show Publication/Promotion
A few things are now going on behind the scenes on MSPWaves Radio, such as making your show schedule live, publishing your show description and showing you the way around MSPWaves.com, as you will have edit access for your own shows. Free advertising! And voilá - you're ready to get on the air... Exciting, isn't it?
If this all looks intimidating - please don't be. It's all designed to help you going live and having great fun doing it. The Ops team is very professional - I wish I had worked with folks as dedicated when I was working in the corporate world.
Get Involved
So, if you want to get your own show, just contact @uniwhisp or @globocop, or any of the mspwaves staff, and we will get you started. And if not, tell your friends, and come on over to MSPWaves.com/listen for great shows - we have something for everyone.
Oh, and we always have a disclaimer in every show... It goes like this:
MSPWaves Radio and its owners take no responsibility for the opinions or statements made by the talk show host or their guests. Statements and show topics are not necessarily the beliefs of the radio station. The material on this show is provided for educational and informational purposes only.

I tried to get all three mics to work on Discord and nothing! It must be an issue with my computer. I've got Realtek and I've tried every possible configuration.

Hey kiddo - good to see you!
Jesus stays - 666 will go... Easy!
Power of the enemy in Greek Means Ability of the enemy... So, 666 can't do a thing to me. To hell with the AntiChrist(s).
