Muhammadu Buhari GCFR (born 17 December 1942) is a Nigerian politician who has been President of Nigeria since 2015. Buhari was a major figure in the Nigerian military, and following his retirement, he entered politics, serving briefly as Minister of Petroleum and Natural Resources in 1983, during the Nigerian Second Republic.
