Section 144 Imposed At Tourist Spots In Lonavala

The state government of Maharashtra, on Friday, July 16, 2021, imposed section 144 at Lonavla. The decision was taken keeping the rising coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in mind. As per the revised guidelines, a group of five or more people will not allowed to travel together. Moreover, vehicles have been banned within a kilometer radius of the waterfalls.

Officials, over the last few weeks, have observed that the spots in Lonavala have attracted a large number of people, which eventually leads to . Despite repeated warnings and appeals made by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, people have not followed the rules and hence, this decision to impose section 144 was decided. New rules were brought to effect immediately keeping the number of tourists in mind, who visit the hill station during the monsoon.
