Mushrooms from today! (Names included)

Today I ventured with some facebook friends to Yellow River Park in Georgia and found some cool fungi that I'd like to share with you!

We found dozens of different species within a 1.1 mile stretch!

Psilocybe caerulescens

I was very surpised to find these at all today! Usually I deliberately hunt for them, and Im always surprised at the distribution range of these mushrooms.; it's seemingly always expanding...

We spent quite some time at this log photographing many different species.

Resupinatus by Jacob Pulk

This was one of the new ones for me today. Jacob is a better identifier than I, and for now he calls this Resupinatus.

Trichoderma peltatum

Also a new find for me: Trichoderma peltatum
This plain looking, blobbish thing was the only specimen of its kind on the log.
You will most likely find this represented as Hypcocrea peltata.

The name was changed in 2014 I think.

Psathyrella sp.

This Psathyrella's cap margin was unique and appendiculate (the white hanging fringes) With a little research more I could probably give this a better name.

Tremella fuciformis

This was my first T. fuciformis (that I can remember). Its icy look is entrancing to me.

Trametes betulina

This was called Lenzites betulina up until this year. Though its still ok to call this Lenzites, no one will get mad at you.

Cantharellus cinnabarinus (or C. texensis)

I would have called this the first name, that I listed for it, but Jacob reminded me of the latter name as well.
Yes, they're edible if you can find beefier ones, or just a lot of them. But make sure not to eat anything that you can't identify yourself. I can only try to point you in the right direction.

Pycnoporellus alboluteus?

Joan suggested this name and also ID'd an earlier mushroom of mine as Pycnoporellus alboluteus.

I hope y'all enjoyed some good ol' mushroom porn.

Until next time, stay mushy friends!
