Syd Barrett - Octopus

Syd Barrett, 6 January 1946 – 7 July 2006, best known as the first vocalist for Pink Floyd. He went a little off the rails during his final days in Pink Floyd. Since he wrote most of their early songs they tolerated and perhaps even indulged his madness and pranks for a while but eventually they moved on and left him behind. Some say he went mad. Some, perhaps eager to demonise psychedelics, blamed it on LSD although more likely he had schizophrenia.

All the same he still managed to produce three superb solo albums, and Octopus comes from one of these. I love this track and have various associations with it that I have built up over the years. Including one to Zalty from the DKMU godforms.
