Wow, what number are we on now? Twenty-one is it? Okay, ‘Favourite song with a name in it...”. I decided on another oldie here, with Rosana by Toto. This song has always been catchy to me but I guess as an adult I’ve had more time to think about the lyrics. When he sings “meet you all the way.” Is he describing a situation where you’re so desperately in love with someone that ‘half-way’ no longer crosses your mind and you throw caution and all thoughts of compromise to the wind to give in to whatever it is they’ve demanded?
If so that sounds a little dangerous. But I get it. Love doesn’t always come neatly tied up and ready for safe consumption. And sometimes tumultuous relationships teach us something about ourselves that we might not have learned under calmer circumstances (no I’m not encouraging anyone to stay in a bad relationship, I’m just musing about what we can learn from bad situations). Anyway, have a listen:
