It's been a while since I posted something in this series, so long that the seasons changed and my series title needed some correction. I don't know about your situation and whether you had snow and cold, but here in Serbia, it's been a tough few months. Those cold, gloomy days brought beautiful landscapes and feelings of warmth as you curl up with a book and hot chocolate. But still, I was relieved when it finally came to an end.
For me, this is the most beautiful part of the year, when everything in nature comes alive. That's why I'll try to spend a lot of my time out there, breathing fresh air and enjoying the sunshine.
Luckily, beauty of Steemit is that you can contribute from any place, any time, so it won't affect my time on the platform. (This will be the topic of my next article). But enough of this introduction, let's get to know another great band.
Blind Guardian is a power metal band from Germany founded in 1984 and released first album in 1988 after two demos. They are widely acknowledged as one of he pioneers of the genre influencing vast number of bands in the genres of power and speed metal. They emerged in the mid 80s as part of a German heavy metal scene and up until today, their music evolved from what was a speed/heavy metal to a more complex symphonic/progressive metal with a lot of orchestration and backing vocals. They were influenced by the bands like Helloween, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Testament and later on Queen.
Lyrics written by genius vocalist Hansi Kürsch, one of the most respectable musicians on heavy metal scene, deal about the legends, tales, epic fantasy stories and adventures inspired by the writers like J.R.R. Tolkien, Robert Jordan, G.R.R. Martin and their works. This, in combination with epicness of their music have them often referred to as "The Bards" or travelling storytellers.
Most of their releases had warm welcome by the audience. Albums like "Nightfall in Middle Earth" and "Imaginations from the Other Side" are considered to be one of the best in the genre. After Nightfall they started creating more dense sound by using a lot of overdubs and backing vocals. This was especially significant on the album "A Night at the Opera". With every release, we want to define ourselves on a new level, said Kürsch.
Blind Guardian's power ballads like "The Lord of the Rings" or "The Bard's Song" are something truly unique and magnificent and they don't leave anyone indifferent. Especially when you hear a crowd singing it from the top of their lungs.
If you want to check them out, I would suggest to start with albums like "Nightfall in Middle Earth" or "Imaginations from the Other Side" but you can't go wrong whichever one you choose. Here are couple of song suggestions and a lyrics teaser.
There's only one song
Left in my mind
Tales of a brave man
Who lived far from here
Now the bard songs are over
And it's time to leave
No one should ask you for the name
Of the one
Who tells the story
You can check out Blind Guardian on Enter Night, my website for the fans of heavy sound.
Until next time \m/

Listening to their music will give you the same feeling as if you are watching/reading Lord of the Rings. In my humble opinion, one of the best metal bands of our time. Hope you like it!
