Formation of Augmented Chords

Why diminish is to reduce to augment is to increase.
Augmented triad had its formula as 1-3-#5
It is also called Major sharp 5 [maj#5]
Since 1-3-5 is the formula for major triad.
Augmenting the 5th note creates a maj#5 chord.

Let's try an example.
C aug triad will have its notes as C-E-G#.

As usual; you need to transpose this up and down the keys.

C augmented triad C-E-G#

C# augmented triad C#-E#-A

D augmented triad D-F#-A#

Eb augmented triad Eb-G-B

E augmented triad E-G#-B#

F augmented triad F-A-C#

F# augmented triad F#-A#-D

G augmented triad G-B-D#

Ab augmented triad Ab-C-E

A augmented triad A-C#-E#

Bb augmented triad Bb-D-F#

B augmented triad B-D#-G
