Anyone that knows Verse knows that he has slick wordplay that cuts the beat like a samurai sword. On the beat Verse has not only dominated his competition but he has surpassed them to a level that few artists ever achieve. Legend. The legend of Verse is heavily intertwined with the Tulsa hip-hop scene. It was no surprise that his competition be ecstatic about his absence from music. But their comfort during his absence would also be their downfall. Verse is back. OR as Jay Z said it; "When I come back like Jordan. Wearin' the 4-5, it ain't to play games with you". And just like Jordan, Verse's latest single "Moor Flex" proves that he ain't playin'.
As the story goes after a year and a half hiatus, Jordan would play the Indiana Pacers and would go on to finish with 19 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists. Proving that he was just that much better than his competition. So naturally now that Verse is back he also doesn't disappoint as he drops a 3 minute and 36 second track that proves that he is FUCKING BACK!
25 with no kids or charges considered an achievement.
The line between rapper and ballplayer has always been a blurry one. Many rappers admire the skill and competitive nature of basketball, and on the other side many basketball players admire the skill and competitive nature of rapping. Verse shows just how the stories aren't so different, as his love for the game and love for rapping are showcased with his numerous basketball metaphors and references.
This type of skill doesn't come overnight. You have to be a student of the game. Jordan had always been known as a player who didn't just practice. He practiced practiced. Not only that but he studied the greats that came before him as well as the one's he played against like Magic Johnson and Julius Erving. Verse's delivery on this track is similar to a Jordan finger role that has the essence of the greats he studied. But at the same time Verse had no choice but to go off. This is such a hip-hop beat that was produced by Tarik Sabar. The dark yet harmonic choir is a warning. A warning to anyone who steps on the mic after him. Or better yet who attempts to Jump with him:
Just don't jump with me if I'm at the rim about to dunk it!
Simply put this is God Flow! The next track played in the SoundCloud shuffle doesn't even compare to Verse's lyrical assault. It's simply unfair to be this good. The same words that many of Jordan's competitors have said.
The critics might say. How can this be that good of a song? It doesn't even have a hook! That's when Verse like Jordan telling you how he's gonna beat you. Then actually beating you. He puts it simple:
THIS DON'T NEED NO CHORUS YET MOOR FLEX!
