I think atheism in of and itself isn’t problematic. If God doesn’t exist then it’s all just a LaLaLa meaningless universe to me. Yes, if this view is true nihilism is inevitable. Atheism, reason, and logic in and of themselves have not been of soteriological efficacy from the perch I sit on. We are destroying the life systems of this earth at an exponential rate and atheist’s have done next to nothing to alter our current trajectory. Leftist atheism is a disaster and has killed hundreds of millions since Marx and his theories arrived. And Rand? REALLY? We need a political philosophy of selfishness? How many homeless do rightwing atheist professors have to trip over on their way to their academies? How utterly absurd (and tragic) although it wouldn’t be the apocalypse if the atheist right (Molyneux) wasn’t at war with the atheist left (rationalityrules)...
