In this first post, I will talk about one of my passions ... Music. But not any kind of music, within the wide range of possibilities, within a Caribbean country such as Venezuela, where the common denominator is salsa, merengue, Latin rhythms ... Come on, the "guaguanco". This server looked at the other sidewalk and embraced what in my childhood was not the rule and yes, I mean Metal.
Starting from that premise, today I come to talk about the new album of one of the groupings, which has become a fixed asset in any personal playlist and is none other than Immortal and his new work entitled Northern Chaos Gods.
Almost 9 years have passed since Immortal published, what was to date his last work the All Shall Fall. A quite long period of time in which he has passed from all around to the band, but, in 2018, they publish a new work and with a novelty, Abbath is no longer part of the group.
In this new work, the managers were two familiar faces and are also fundamental pillars as is the case of Demonaz and Horgh.
On this occasion Demonaz leaves the role of lyricist, which he has occupied since 1997 due to acute tendonitis, which made it impossible for him to continue playing the guitar with the band, but this has not been the case, Demonaz returns as a guitarist and vocalist which It is excellent news. For his part Horgh, is still the master and master of the battery.
This new work, about an approximate 43 minutes, comes with a download of 8 crushing themes, which from the first minute overwhelm everything that is in its path. Undoubtedly, Immortal has returned and has returned to stay. Peter Tägtgren returns to production and also as a session bassist for the recording of the album.
The album begins with the piece that gives name to the album and is none other than Northern Chaos God, a theme that warns us that what comes from here in more is a Black Metal machine without concessions. Then the one that for me, is the best track of the whole album and is Into Battle Ride, 3 minutes 51 seconds of pure and hard Black Metal, sharp guitars, a practically murderous drum kit, a fast track and a lot of rage in which Do not lower your foot off the accelerator at any time. Followed by Gates to Blashyrkh and Grim and Dark, two epic themes where you can see that return to its beginnings, Called to Ice is an Immortal brand theme that does not disappoint and with excellent riffs from start to finish. Where Mountains Rise starts with those clean riffs so characteristic of the band, which serve as a prelude to a song that can easily become an anthem of this new cycle, without doubt a highly recommended theme. Blacker of Worlds rekindles the blacker fury of the disc and finally, we have the epic march of more than 9 minutes Mighty Ravendark that closes with a flourish this great work, which shows that in Immortal there is life after Abbath.
