This time I bring you this fantastic post-rock album. For me one of the best albums of this genre and the best of this Scottish band. This album was the debut of this Scottish group, which for me is one of the most revolutionary and influential in the Post-Rock. Titled as Young Team, it was released on October 27, 1997 through the Chemikal Underground record label.

Perfection and simplicity, calm and storm, that's what defines this album, Mogwai and Post-Rock. That facility they have to create an instrumental music that entertains, with changing and very melodic guitars, harmonies that fit perfectly into environmental pieces, something experimental and progressive.

It's a perfect album, for an afternoon without any worries, if not more than listening to good music and relaxing, with the musical melodies of Mogwai. If you do not know this genre or you think it will be boring because of the presence mainly instrumental in all subjects, you are wrong, I invite you to immerse yourself in these 65 minutes of relaxation and reflection. It is a perfect album to start with this genre and of course with Mogwai.

The album opens perfectly with this beautiful song, entitled "Yes! I Am A Long Way From Home ", which begins with a narrated introduction that leads us to a landscape created with guitars with great bass help. This is what Mogwai wants to guide us, first doze the songs to raise them later in the air, wrapped in a storm. No doubt beautiful song, I find it very emotional. With a more powerful ending.

Yes! I Am A Long Way From Home

Then we continue with "Like Herod" is a theme with the typical characteristics of the genre. With dark environments, changes of time, intensity, moments in which silence is almost absolute and then tear it apart with a good guitar. That's the post rock.

We went with "Katrien" , one of his few songs with words to say it in some way, the voices are used more like an instrument, like a slight murmur in the distance, that fit perfectly with this beautiful piece, very emotional, that as the disc has shown us, shows at first in a beautiful calm to then burst the guitars.

Follow "Radar Maker" , it's like an interlude, a little piano introduction for the next track, one of my favorites, "Tracy". Impressive, it is a piece that is almost completely relaxed, calm and very emotional. With an atmosphere that surrounds you in reflection, the piano perfectly accompanies this "ballad of post-rock"

Tracy

Summer (priority version) where strength and guitars are able to saturate speakers. It is one of the most powerful songs of this album in my opinion, with many powerful changes, and some guitars that sometimes make me think of the shoegaze. It is a very good subject, although it can be a bit repetitive, it is very different from tracy.

The piano presents us with "With Portfolio", song full of guitar effects, I do not have much to say, it's an interlude in my opinion, a piano anthem 2. In the final minutes of the album, it becomes much more interesting, when we discovered "R U Still In 2 It", perhaps my favorite of this album, has an impressive lyric that fits perfectly with the sounds of mogwai. This song has the vocal collaboration of Aidan Moffat, singer of another famous group of post rock, called Arab Strap. More than singing, the voice is used to accompany these beautiful environmental melodies that Mogwai recreates and give a wider meaning to the song. It is a song full of melancholy and sad but perfect, it is my first recommendation, to enter this album. No doubt this song will catch you. Then we went with "A cheery wave from stranded youngsters" I do not have much to say, very calm and very short, I did not really like the truth.

And finally we end up with "Mogwai Fear Satan". For many the best song of this album, in spite of its length (16 minutes) Guitars that so soon play in an almost inaudible way and later they are able to happen to destroy eardrums. After 4 minutes they delight us with a beautiful flute, which fits perfectly in this great song, which is nothing more than a perfect sample of Mogwai and Post-Rock.
