RIP Keith Flint

in music •  6 years ago

Keith Flint, of The Prodigy – my teenage years' favorite electronic act – has danced his final catatonic dance and left this planet and his life. More than sadness, this is making me feel kind of nostalgic. reflective and contemplating my youth. To me and to my friends back then, he was our hero, our role model with his attitude and his agitated dances and his crazy shouted lyrics.

He wasn't the musical mastermind behind The Prodigy's beats, but began his career as the group's dancer, later on to become the leading M.C. and front man, with his memorable, wild, colorful double maw-hawk, which came to symbolize the entire artistic world view of the band. As a kid fascinated by the music above all, I always held Liam Howlett – the one who actually made all the band's music by himself – in higher regard. But coming to think of it now, I probably wouldn't even knew who The Prodigy were without Flint in the front. His sparse, raw, hard lyrics, his soar singing, the mad look in his eyes – there wasn't any music in the entire universe that could do better as the soundtrack for me turning 15 in Haifa.

This is for the kids who don't know what the hell I'm babbling about:

RIP Keith Flint
