Jerry was so damn strong, the band was so tight and I never looked back.
The parking lot was magical. The carnaval of strangeness love and spirit I had only imagined until then.
We drove six hours to check it out, we had no tickets.
19 years old with a fake ID no cash and four OZ of compressed brick weed seeds and all.
Turns out the whole tour was super dry and I had the currency of choice.
We had tickets in minutes.
I was able to get exotic drugs, veggie burritos, tee shirts brownies, a hotel room at the las Vegas club and drinks for my two friends.
We took downtown over for sure. There were hippies everywhere. Fifty cents draft beer and two dollar breakfasts.
The best two days of my young life, total freedom. We rocked it with total abandon.
Over the next year's I would travel the western states looking to recreate the magic. Sometimes successfully.
Loved going to the shows, the people, the band the trips were epic.
Watching the Amazon special made me look at the old ticket stubs and reminisce. What a long strange trip indeed.
