I've recorded songs with my daughters when they were little and backed one of my daughter's on her single, now my granddaughter would like to sing my song Santa if You're Listening aka God if You're Listening.
She's a great little singer, almost 9 and said this afternoon "I can't believe I'm singing Country, I don't even like Country" I told her she could call it Americana, but I think this might be a bit of cultural bias. I think it depends where in the world or country you are as to whether it is a cool genre at her age. She also doesn't realise how many songs she likes are country.
The song is about a boy in small time America, whose father lost his job when the plant closed down, asking Santa to send his Dad a job because the food is low and the rent is overdue, saying he doesn't need toys and will do his chores, but please make it soon. An all too common story where small towns are reliant on a small number of factories or a business sector facing competition.
It's great to have another generation with a passion for music:)
Love to hear the song, sounds like a classic.
