Music Theory Quick Tips is a series of very short tutorials to help you learn how to read music notes. These music lessons are meant to be viewed as a collection as they lead from one to the other. I suggest that you follow them in order or choose a specific music theory topic which interests you.

Hello musicians my name is Andrew Mercer and thank you for joining the music theory quick tips. Today were learning about clefs. When we are writing music on paper making it as easy and clear as possible is what it is all about. So we use clefs to organise our music into really easy ways to read it. We have a treble clef which is used for our high notes. And a bass clef is used for her low notes. Now when I say clef I mean this symbol on the far left. You see it is like a funny little symbol here. It's a bass clef. And this one here. This big squiggly it's a treble clef. Treble clef is for the high notes and bass clef is for the low notes. And you will notice that the treble clef sits on 5 lines. And the bass clef sits on 5 lines. The 5 lines that the treble clef sits on is the treble staff. This is the treble staff all these lines and spaces. And the base staff is the 5 lines that the bass clef sits on. And again they are for our low notes. And again these are laid out like this to make them as easy as possible to read. And we are going to be learning all about how to read these notes in upcoming chips so stay tuned and it subscribed see you next time.
