Beyond the Beatles: a bit of good music from the 60's

in music •  7 years ago

Hello everybody!

Here I come with a very quick article to share with you some good music of the 60's that I found during my self-education process.

The Beatles really influenced american and British music, opening the door for a whole set of opportunities for British musicians. They inspired young boys all around the USA who bought instruments and started to play in garages and basements.

Even though they did not have a lot of knowledge, they had a lot of enthusiasm and the sound of the garage bands was taken by professionals and even introduced in pop specially by Paul Revere and the Raiders, here I let you some of the songs that I liked the most:

Nice music! Of course the Beatles were good, but that doesn't mean they were the only good group out there!

exactly that is my point!

I like The Kinks too.. How about the "The Village Green Preservation Society"?

I don't know this one to be honest, I will check it out! thank you! :)

The Beatles influenced an entire generation of musicians. That british sound that they formed with the Stones repercussed decades of music in the island an all around the world.

They even composed the first metal song!

I think that this bands that was formed around the idea of the Beatles just make them look greater.

Yes they even opened the door for the punk movement to arise, but for bands as Rainbow and AC/DC, I feel their inspiration comes more from the kinks and the Who than for the Beatles. I personally am against any kind of idolatry for any band or musician. Nothing in music happens out of a context, and there are a lot of social, cultural and business factors that also helped their success.

Without saying that at the beginning the Beatles just copied all the american music that came to Liverpool. They actually become artists (in the sense of looking for new things and create) right after their sudden success in the USA.

For the first metal song, which one would it be? And under which criteria?

Well, I was talking about Helter shelter but there is I Want You (She's So Heavy) too. The riff, the structure and the tone of the voice in Helter Shelter remind the early metal, and the end in I Want you is pretty standar for the genre. But you can discuss that and I won't blame you, there is a full argument about that.

All good musicians also take all the inspiration for somewhere, they just give it a different approach, and yes I'm pretty sure that without the influence of american music after and during the length of the band it wouldn't be "The Beatles", and that was the circunstances that made them great, because they were great at some points.

They had the opportunity to push the rock limits. I didn't mean that they influenced AC/DC or Rainbow, just that the form that they played music reach places that no one before had reached.

indeed, my idea is that we appreciate the uniqueness all great musicians have brought, I don't like it when people idealize an artist... I knew I want you, but the other one was a discovery. And it's true it sounds heavy (and a bit out of tune sometimes hahahaha) at least for what will be the heavy metal of the 70's 80's, because then there are sooooooooo many types of metal were we can discuss.

But in the end it is not about who's right or if this sounds metal or not, it is about enjoying the music, getting inspired and create!

Excellent group, good memories about that time where the group was the best, still remains the best .. Thank you for visiting my blog @catherinegairard, Greetings ..

thank you for reading me!
