Some Considerations of Choosing an Audio Interface

Musicians are arguably one of the jobs most affected by technological developments. Because the development of technology has enabled many musicians to various things, one of which is to work. Nowadays, recording at home is not a strange thing, because with the rise of DAW (Digital Audio Workshop) software or the circulating interface in the market, almost everyone has the same opportunity to create a musical masterpiece.

With the increasing supply of tools for recording, the price of these things is become more competitive. And the good news is, make a work or recording now can be done at home with an economical budget.

With some requirement such as laptop / PC and an audio interface, you can already start doing what is called as home recording. But the next question is, laptop or audio interface like what is needed to be able to do home recording. And today i will discuss some points you can take into consideration when you want to buy an audio interface. The first things is....

1. Needs

When the question arises, "What kind of audio interface should I buy?" It's good if we know in advance what we need from the object. Do we need it to record full live bands, or just make a demo, or maybe we need to record something in mobile. By knowing what we need, we will have a clearer picture of the audio interface we need. Perhaps the best first step is to list that we need.

2. Input/Output

If we already know our needs, we will automatically be able to answer this one point. For example, if we want to record full live band, then we need an audio interface that has an input of about 16 channels.

3. Connection

What is meant by connection here is to see connection owned by our PC / laptop with audio interface which we will buy, whether it via USB, FireWire, thunderbolt, PCI, etc ..

4. Sound Quality

Nowadays, it is actually rather difficult to distinguish the sound quality of the audio interface of each brand in the market, especially for the general people. Because at this time not a few audio interfaces (especially the cheaper audio interface) that dared to release features like more expensive audio interface.

5. Price

And the last things is price. Many people think that we will need a huge fee to have an audio interface. As discussed in the previous points, there are some audio interfaces that have a price range that is skewed but with a quality that is more than enough.
