Music blog: King Krule - The OOZ (punk-jazz, indie, fusion, darkwave, hip-hop)

in music •  7 years ago  (edited)

Been listening to the remarkable new album by King Krule a lot recently.

I stumbled over by accident when I left my cymbal.fm account running. It instantly stood out for its fusion of many different styles, namely jazz, indie, hiphop and darkwave. And for a guys only 19 years old this is a surprisingly mature album.

Dum Surfer is a standout track with its surf rock like licks, and confident swagger. The whole album has a cool sleazy sound to it, there just isn't a lot of new music like this out there. I'd quite happily sit in a leather chair in a dimly lit club with a tumbler of scotch and chill to it. That's what it makes me want to do anyway.
