Day 9 marks the first day of the last weekend of the Brevard Renaissance Fair. We arrived a little earlier than the previous weekend. It was a cloudy day but no rain to speak of and a pretty comfortable temperature.
Celtica Nova
We caught Celtica Nova's first set and would catch 2 out of 3 for the day. Have I mentioned the flaming bagpipes?
Luku The Mad Skald
Next up was Luku The Mad Skald. We only caught his show a couple of times mainly because we usually had a small child with us and his shows are more adult oriented, at least in terms of language.
The Jackdaws
The Jackdaws were up next, at least for us. However, we only caught a song or two in this set.
Randal Piper and The Wayward Bards
We skipped out on The Jackdaws early to catch Randal Piper featuring the Wayward Bards (or vice versa) as their shows overlapped so it was usually a choice between one or the other. They would play both Wayward Bard and Randal Piper songs.
Pride of Ireland
Then it was off to see Pride of Ireland...definitely the most Irish performer. He played on the same stage as Luku The Mad Skald.
Jousting
Then we caught the joust for really the only time during the entire fair. It was enjoyable but I miss the one they do at Hoggetowne in Gainesville, Florida. It's not that it's bad here it's just that the one in Gainesville was always amazing or at least I thought so.
Randal Piper and The Wayward Bards
After lunch it was off to see the supergroup Randal Piper and The Wayward Bards again.
Celtica Nova
Immediately following Randal Piper we went to catch Celtica Nova's last show of the day, at least outside of the pub sing.
Sirena
After Celtica Nova we went over to the main stage for the pub sing. Sirena was still on stage so we caught the last couple of their songs.
Pub Sing - Randal Piper
Randal Piper leads off the pub sing with help from many of the other musicians performing at the fair.
Pub Sing - Boom Boom Shake
Next up at the pub sing was the world music/belly dancing act of Boom Boom Shake. I may have missed a performer or two in between though.
Pub Sing - Aaron Bonk
Normally Aaron Bonk does a fire, whips and swords show (or is it fire whips and swords?) but here he balances a glass of wine on a stick while signing and playing the guitar.
Lads on the Lash
Lads on the Lash was one of the few (ok, like two) acts that I really didn't see enough of. They didn't really perform on a stage except at the pub sing. Otherwise, their normal location was in one of the pubs.
Pub Sing - Pride of Ireland
Pride of Ireland also provided a song for the pub sing with a little help from one of the members of Sirena on drums.
Pub Sing - Sirena
Then Sirena themselves were up for a song.
Pub Sing - Gillian Brownlee
Gillian Brownlee of Haggis Rampant, an act I did not manage to catch, led off the final act with some help from members of Celtica Nova and Cu Dubh that would culminate in Robin Hood battling it out with Prince John.
Pub Sing - Celtica Nova
Finally, the rest of Celtica Nova joined in for the finale...
