Bojam on Steemit - Our Band When I Was 17 - [Music on Youtube]

Bojam

Fresh after winning our high school battle of the bands against some real good competition, we felt confident going into the studio to get some tracks down.  This is maybe the cleanest, most fully produced stuff I have left from nearly 15 years ago.

It’s crazy listening back because the weekend we did this feels like just yesterday.  The guitarist and I were one week away from going to our first Phish show and only 2 months away from meeting Trey Anastasio and having him sign one of my guitars.  We listened to Phish and jammed pretty much all of the time, which was pretty much my life for junior and senior year of high school, until that summer when I started seriously getting into poker, as I’ve touched on before.

We drifted apart since high school but I am thankful for our time together as a band.  And if any of the members of Bojam stumble on this by accident, I love you guys and would love to connect again!

Thanks for listening!

These are some killer tunes man! \m/ Definitely a shame that you guys disbanded, but at least you have something to dive into nostalgia with. Even long after a journey ends, the memories of bliss and excitement remain, and that's something that not even time can take away from you. Wicked nice post man, I thoroughly enjoyed both of these tunes. Definitely got some Phish-esque experimental vibes in there.... kinda hearing a little bit of Sublime-era ska in there too, wicked mellow. Reminds me of this band my band shared the stage with back in the day, they were a stoner ska band straight outta Pennsylvania called Among Criminals. Well done Derek!

Thanks, man! I wish we recorded more of our jams, because this doesn't really represent how we played at all. We were really experimental and covered a ton of genres when we played. Sadly, most of that stuff is now lost in the wind, or on crackly sounding tapes that need to be converted to mp3. (Maybe a project for down the road.) Anyways, we had a lot of fun and it was great to dig this stuff up!

Great stuff. I am glad to see you here on steemit.
