This weekend we were back at it again.
More music at Redmond, Washington’s Marymoor Park!
Headliners: The Dirty Heads
Pacific Dub
The Movement
and
Iration
Saturday night the hubs, a buddy and I high tailed it to “the east side” (the rich Microsoft employee section of the greater Seattle Metropolitan) to see one of our long time favorite bands, the Dirty Heads. Not only was it sunny, but the concert was VIP and free! We know the band’s bass player and he was super nice to get us on the guest list. YAY!!!
Despite what the passes say, there was no aftershow....
I’ve not been feeling 100% for a couple weeks (ongoing stomach bug), but the boys used the $$$ saved on admission to splurge on some succulent sausages. Looks like a bit of bacon, jalapeños and grilled onions added some zest to each foot long.
Sausage Fest.... literally.... 😂🤣😂🌭
Pacific Dub
The show opened with a performance by the band Pacific Dub. This four man reggae rock group hails from Huntington Beach, California. We missed most of their set enjoying the sausage feast.
The Movement
Next on the line up was The Movement. This band gives off a serious summer vibe. Their music to me is quite beachy despite the fact they are based out of Philadelphia! (PS - They started out in Columbia, SC FWIW.) The Movement formed as a trio in 2003. Current members include Joshua Swain (lead vocals & guitar), Jay Schmidt (bass), Gary Jackson (drums) and Ross Bogan (keyboard).
“Set Sail” released 2008
After The Movement it was time to socialize. There had been some mixup with our free tickets. So while we got into the concert free, the venue reps weren’t letting us into the VIP area. That is until friend Dave showed up with wrist bands! Thanks Dave!
Hubs & Dirty Heads bassist Dave
The VIP area was my concert heaven. There were Adirondack chairs, a complimentary dinner, real bathrooms and churros!!! It was great to have a little relaxation time mid concert.
Watching Iration while dining on a chocolate dipped churro.
Dirty Heads
(Yes I know I skipped Iration... but come on... CHURROS!)
Finally it was time for our headlining act, the Dirty Heads. The first time we saw these guys play live was at an outdoor dining area at the University California Long Beach. This was in 2007, before the release of their first album!
Duddy and Dirty J
I have always loved the Dirty Heads’ Sublime meets Beastie Boys vibe. They drop awesome hip hop rhymes over reggae rock melodies. The band’s two original members, Jared “Dirty J” Watson (lead vocals) and Dustin “Duddy B” Bushnell (lead vocals/guitar), met their freshman year of high school in Huntington Beach, California. These two were eventually joined by Jon Olazabal (percussion), Matt Ochoa (drums), and David Foral (bass).
Opening song - “Medusa” from the 2014 album “Sound of Change”
Closing song - “That’s All I Need” from their 2016 self titled album, “Dirty Heads”
I love a good concert light show.
Another concert done and dusted.
