This is actually not about music but about one of the most famous political speeches in history. The "Great March on Washington" was a protest march for the rights of the black population. At the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. Martin Luther King Jr. spoke at that time along with other activists. His "I Have a Dream" speech became one of the most important moment in history for black people all over the world.

At the event the singer Liz Lands also performed the song "We Shall Overcome". She was under contract with Motown Records and the label recognized the importance of the protest march and released the song and speeches on the LP "The Great March On Washington" in 1963.

Now this album has been digitally released for the first time, ensuring that future generations will be able to relive this great moment in history. Even after so many years you still get goosebumps when hearing Dr. King's speech. This is probably also the reason why the speech was sampled in countless songs.
