British musician Andy Gill, guitarist of the influential post-punk band Gang Of Four died at the age of 64 of a respiratory disease. The band announced this sad news on their Facebook Page.

Andy Gill was one of the greatest pioneers of his time, and his edgy guitar sound will forever remain unforgotten.

Many artist friends paid tribute to him after his death. For example Flea said that he was a great influence on the early Red Hot Chili Peppers sound. Gill produced their first album

With many other successful indie bands of the past years the influence cannot be overheard. Especially The Rapture, Bloc Party or Franz Ferdinand to name but a few.

In memory of Andy Gill I want to share some great songs and moments:

Gang Of Four - To Hell With Poverty (Live on TV, Old Grey Whistle Test, UK, 1981)

Gang of Four - Damaged Goods (Live on Rockpalast, Germany, 1983)

Gang of Four - Peel Session (John Peel Show, UK 1979)

Gang of Four - What we all want (Single, 1981)

Gang of Four - Full Concert (Berlin Festival, 2010)
