This time in UNDERRATED ALBUMS, i am going to talk about a compilation, and not just any compilation, but a compilation album released 27 years ago, where the music is still ahead of many things you hear nowadays

HEAD YOUR MIND

The Head Your Mind compilation was released 27 years ago on the dreamtime records label.

But first, we go a little bit further back in time ....

somewhere In 1987 former Sore Throat drummer Paul Halmshaw officially founded the independent heavy metal record label Peaceville Records, Originally this label started as a tape label releasing anarcho punk, the releases moved towards metal through crust punk and similar forms of metal-influenced English hardcore punk. Halmshaw started running the label full-time in 1988, when they also focused more on Doom Metal.

Peaceville is also known for its anti-major label stance and left wing political outlook.

Dreamtime records was a subsidiary of peaceville records and this was going to be their go to label for experimental psychedelic electronica bands.

Unfortunately for connoisseurs like me, who really loved this experimental music, that was years ahead of it’s time, the label was not really a big success.

Therefore the label did not have a very long life, and there’s also no back catalogue, and there never will be, because a couple of years ago the peaceville label also pulled the plug,

Dreams of re releases will stay dreams and you will not find many of these dreamtime releases on digital platforms, unless someone has uploaded the release(s) themselves.

I still remembering buying this dirt cheap compilation that was on display at the local record store. We all knew peaceville records from acts like My Dying Bride & Paradise Lost, so for most people, buying this was a no brainer. Initially though, a no brainer, because the pure metal heads that only liked to listen to metal and hated synthesizers, well ... they probably did not have such a good time.

I was already quite familiar with G.G.F.H. (Global Genocide Forget Heaven) in those days, so i knew what was coming, and still pleasantly surprised. I can honestly say that this disc has been with me trough the ages, and until we got separated because of a burglary ... you could often find it in my cd player at nights when we came down from some drug infused party

The music on Head Your Mind, does not let it subscribe itself, the music is an experience, you just need to try ...
