in music •  7 years ago

1988: 30 years ago today Van Halen released their 8th studio album, and 2nd with Sammy Hagar as lead singer, “OU812”. The album’s original title, “Bone” was nixed by drummer Alex Van Halen. Reportedly Sammy Hagar was amused by the acronym OU812 which he saw printed on a delivery truck. The album cover is thought to give homage to the classic Beatles’ cover for “With the Beatles”.
