Fun Music Challenge Day 10 of 10

in music •  6 years ago

Welcome to the final post of the Fun Music Challenge given to me by @hanen. The original Steemit version was made by @gingergeorge.

The last album I am going to talk about hits closer to (my current) home than the other ones I have listed since Day 1. To refresh our memories, here is a list of albums I have talked about in this series in the order which they appeared:

Taylor Swift - by Taylor Swift
Meteora - by Linkin Park
Thriller - by Michael Jackson
Fallen - by Evanescence
Crossfade - by Crossfade
The Secret Life of... - by The Veronicas
Stop All the World Now - by Howie Day
Speak Now - by Taylor Swift
Loud Pipes Save Lives - by E-Type

And onto the final album we go!

I did not choose an obscure album as some had anticipated. I actually have 8 of the 11 tracks listed here on my playlist. The reason why I said this album hits closer to home is quite literal. The band was founded when Dan Reynolds was still attending Brigham Young University. The internet will tell you that they technically started in Las Vegas, but the original members met in Utah.

As hipster as I feel like, I don't personally know him or any of the earlier band members as the formation of the band took place during my gap years. It was enough for me to know that awesome stuff came out of the institution that I attended. It's not often that you could say that you went to the same school as some famous celebrity.

The first song I was exposed to was It's Time. That piece was heavily featured in local programs such as Audio Files and The Song That Changed My Life. Do you feel the hipster oozing out of me yet? I can (almost) say I knew about them before they were cool. I even listed shows that nobody has heard of outside of the state.

I cannot describe Imagine Dragons works in my own words due to lack of knowledge in musical nomenclatures. All I know is that they had a different sound than what I was used to and their lyrics were catchy enough that they were easy to remember.

These days, I still hear Radioactive, Demon, and Every Night on the local radio stations. Thunder is also featured many times, but that's a different song for another album. Imagine Dragons are basically local legends where I live.

And that's it! I have finished the Fun Music Challenge! I hope those of you who have read the series enjoyed it.

If I were to do things differently for a series post next time, I think I should link the previous posts to build context. I may revisit the #music scene again in the near future, so stay tuned.

No link to one of their songs? I need to go find it? Just kidding, I am not that lazy. Radioactive was not to bad of a song.

Good thing they aren't hard to find on the web. :)

Yeah, I definitely agree with you there about Radioactive.

I love Thriller - by Michael Jackson and I am still listening to it from time to time. Nice song and great show :D

Do you do the dance as well? :D
