Bas comes through with an album dripping in sauce that no one has, that's the brilliance of this album.
When he says there's no one out right now that sounds like him on the intro, Icarus, he's 100% correct. The follow up songs Front Desk and J. Cole assisted Tribe are the best songs on the album as a whole. That's about where the album peaks. The album dips, but doesn't nosedive as Boca Raton still bangs after several listens. The sound for most of the album has a Caribbean vibe to it.
Bas has always been an excellent rapper and that's so much more evident on tracks like Purge. The track is a shinning example of Bas' ability to just flow over an instrumental crafted out of the heavens. Correy C has a distinct and interesting sound to he's voice that makes me want to search for he's solo work and is found on two tracks, Fragrance and Infiniti+2.
The little skits in between don't disrupt the listening experience, due to the smooth transitions they make into their respective songs. The album also isn't hampered by time as it's kept relatively short. The album closer Spaceships + Rockets sounds like a house beat infused with trap drums which makes for the most interesting song on the album.
This being Bas' third studio album and most ambitious project to date, it'll be interesting to see how he follows it up.
