Synesthesia Review: Teyana Taylor - KTSE

in music •  6 years ago

The Wyoming Sessions comes to an end and while not as G.O.O.D as its predecessors KTSE keeps the summer cruel.

Taylor showcases her tremendous vocal talent in 8 tight fitting tracks that leaves you wanting more by the end. The soul samples are scattered throughout and appeases those who want the "old Kanye" back. Taylor's vocals sounds soothing and sexy throughout, even on the opener No Manners.

The standout track comes in the form of 3Way. The minimalist approach to the production really makes her aforementioned vocals shine brighter. The added verse from TY$ adds more depth to an almost perfect song. Speaking of adding verses, Kanye is on a roll with these "guest" verses. He hasn't had any mishaps thus far; Ye should keep that same energy.

There's the self empowerment of Rose in Harlem that's just begging for multiple spins and a few freestyles from the who's who of the industry. The raw sounding vocals on Never Would Have Made It is spine chilling, in the best way. The albums closing track, WTP, places her in the light of a sex symbol. Something she's been portrayed as in the past.

There aren't many releases of this ilk in the modern R&B realm. This is a shinning example of production and vocals going hand in hand, without fail.
