Synesthesia Review: Tory Lanez - MEMORIES DON'T DIE

in music •  7 years ago

He promised more bars and less singing on he's sophomore album and that's exactly what he delivered.

You can't really box Tory Lanez in with anyone else in the industry. Yeah there's similarities with other artists, but dude is running he's own race. He's back to telling a story unique to him, this time he cut out all those annoying skits that kinda hampered he's debut. He actually addresses it on this album, amongst a slew of other personal things like the "beef" with Drake for example.

Those who love the "Say It" Tory are reminded of that side on 4 Me. He's singing and crooning are minimal though. He flexes he's rapping skills throughout, no more so than on Hate to Say. He also shows he's excellent storytelling abilities on the 50 Cent assisted Pieces.

The majority of the features are only brought in on the latter half of the album. That leaves Tory with enough room to showcase he's ability to carry an album, much like he did he's debut. The runtime is slightly less than he's debut, but still clocks in at over an hour. That's quite long, but well worth a listen in one sit down session.

While not sonically as cohesive as he's debut, this album is still an amazing assembly of tracks that shine individually. Now it's up to Father Time to decide whether it has the longevity of I Told You.
