Johnny Hartman (vocals), John Coltrane (tenor sax), McCoy Tyner (piano), Jimmy Garrison (bass) and Elvin Jones (drums). From the album John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman (1963).
I clean the kitchen and the bathroom dedicated to you. I take the dog for a walk dedicated to you. I make the bed dedicated to you. I'm going to work dedicated to you. I drive the car and keep it clean dedicated to you. I take the family to the amusement park and the cinema dedicated to you. I eat with your parents dedicated to you. I prepare the holidays dedicated to you. I take care of the garden and cut the lawn dedicated to you. I go out with you to dinner at night dedicated to you. I join our friends to go out and have fun dedicated to you. I bring flowers for you on your birthday and I offer you my heart dedicated to you.
Hartman start singing accompanied by Tyner. Enters Coltrane repeating the same melody twice. Now Coltrane adds another melody, as going beyond what Hartman said, and returns to the beginning. Hartman appears again with his reflection. He says that if he wrote a book or painted a painting, they would be like himself and his heart dedicated to his beloved. Her love is like the beacon that illuminates his path and that spending the rest of his life with her would be like living a heavenly day. If he could find a star half as bright as she is, that star would be like himself and his heart. Coltrane ends with a gentle final phrase.
