I imagine only a select few will even get that clever title or know the man in the pic..

That was a gentleman named Christopher Lee Rios aka "Big Punisher" He also went by "Big Pun"

He was an M.C. from Brooklyn New York and joined the long list of dead rappers when he passed in 2000.

He was notorious for being over weight and rhymed about his obesity and struggles with weight loss. A heart attack eventually killed him at the age of 28!

I'm getting old people.

I remember when he first hit the scene, I was a teen and big into hiphop at the time. I had the baggy pants, the Starter jacket and the Reebok Pumps..the whole nine.

I'm a white kid from a small town in Canada but I thought I was the hardest motherfucker on the streets when I listened to his debut album

18252400_1769890369992256_8222815991722147840_n.jpg

I had the tape, I'd put that in my yellow Sony walkman and lose myself in the music. That album still holds up today too, its a testament to the quality of the music he made.

The wordplay and intricate methods he put together his lyrics wasn't and still isn't matched by many.

Alot of hiphop heads consider him one of the best, even tho he only had 2 albums. He was gone too soon to see how big he'd become. Not literally.

Now as an almost middle aged man.. still living in a small town in Canada, I laugh to myself when I think about how I used to put on my clothes that were 4 sizes too big. I'd stand in front of a full-length mirror on the back of my bedroom door mean mugging or rapping along to his songs.

I used to take rap music too seriously for sure but I wouldn't change it, I was having so much fun!

It's funny the older I get the less I really care or am influenced by music now. I still enjoy music and always will but it's just not the same.

Rap/hiphop today seems lazy compared to the early days for the genre.

Nowadays the rappers look even more strange!

The baggy pants have turned into tightpants. Where you sposed to put your gat now when the waistband of your pants is cutting off the circulation to your lower half?

Rappers used to act macho, sure it was mostly fake bravado but today's rappers talk about their feelings and cry on the record.

The gold chains and jewelry have been traded in for tiny Gucci bags and eyeliner. That ain't gangsta!

I guess now I'm just disconnected from the youth today? It happens when u age.

Soon I'll have kids and they'll be listening to whatever music they like and I'll yell at them down the stairs, the same thing my parents used to yell at me when I was listening to my music..

"Turn that shit down!"

Thanks for listening

Yeah all the best rappers are dead 😞

DJ Clue's - The Professional album was dope! I remember listening to the CD when I was in high school. Fantastic 4 featuring Big Pun was one of my favorite songs on the album.

I had that and the 2nd clue album. Heavy rotation with those joints haha. Thx for stopping by and leaving a comment!

RIP pun rip Tupac. Your not old I met nas at a music convention when he was shopping for a label. If I rulled the world.

Sweet! Nas is legendary, def one of my all-time favorite rappers 😎

If you post a lot - you're a friggin' blogger.... Just keep stackin' your gold and silver, - shut the f*)&K up, and add a bit of cyrpto into the mix for good measure.... And don't try so hard... there's no need.... We like you already!

The title's a play on words..from a line the rapper used in his most popular song, "I ain't a player I just crush alot" I actually have a bit of cryptos but thx for f off and whatever else just happened there?..also where I come from its rude to tell someone to f off in thier comments and not leave a big upvote

You're right @goldenarms! No harm intended - as mentioned, we "like you!"

I suspect what happened there was one too many glasses of wine, which shorted out the circuitry between my brain, fingers, and keyboard... UPPED you bro...

I've gotta learn how to stay away from keyboards at such times. I didn't mean to be rude - it was more like sarcastic "guy-banter" followed by a pat on-the-back topped off with an "I love you dude!"

and thanks for cluing me in on the play on words.... had no idea :)

We good?

Ofcourse man, in fact I subbed u up and noticed your a dog lover..so much respect for that. I like animals more than people 👍😎

Well said, I liked some rappers from the 90s but my favorite group was the Beastie Boys !

Yeah they're iconic. Sabotage is still one of my favorite videos ever. My fav group would have to be the Wu-tang clan or the dogg pound. Man there was so many good groups in the 90s!

We were always a little bit behind over here on the other side of the pond. During the early/mid 90's listening to snoop dog, Dr dre, Warren G and Coolio thinking I was the dogs bollux cause I could spit some rhymes myself. Thanks for cheering up my Saturday, a bit of nostalgia goes a long way. And the fashion.... Good God, don't get me started on the clothes!

Haha thx for stopping by, commenting and making me chuckle! 👊😎
