While some people in the USA did know about Depeche Mode some time before this album (I did!) it wasn't until Violator hit the airwaves that they reached their true pinnacle of success - and subsequently started to have many more internal squabbles in the band. I would imagine that more than a few of you are familiar with tracks such as "Personal Jesus" and "Enjoy the Silence" as they were both chart toppers.
However, literally every track on this album is fantastic time and time again. This is stark contrast to the band Helmet, which if you put the disk in, you would listen to one song and then have to change disks immediately. On that note... remember CD players? what a pain those things were... how about cassettes? - we tend to forget how easy and accessible music is these days. Talk about that for full upvote
This album was constantly in my musical rotation as I did a lot of driving and spent too much of my youth money on having a great stereo in my car. The album is also wonderfully produced and mixed / mastered.
Here is one of their songs, "Sweetest Perfection," which is not just a video but also a tutorial in MS Excel basics. After watching it I feel the need to get more organized with my finances.

We are in a generation where we have everything in our finger tips. I could remember back then, when we can only listen to music in the house or in the car, we have just one stereo player in the whole of our house, so my dad decide on what music we must listen to except he's not around, that's when we become the decision makers... Lol.
But it is now more easy to access music than it was then.
We have mp3, mp4, portable transistor radio and our mobile phones as easy access to access music wherever we are all over the word.

Moving from Satanic to Angelic kinda band? I must say i love you posts, day in day out you draw my attention to things in the music industry i didn't know and things i had almost forgotten. The violator album is full of great tracks which why it comes as a no surprise that it made it to the top 10 billboard, anyway CDs and Cassettes, man those were the good old days, When the songs have ended and you had to rewind the cassette to start again, oh headache, then machines that allow you to just press rewind came made the whole thing a lot more easier, then the optical technology which is CDs obviously, came to replace them on the market, easier to nagivate your way around, less cumbersome, and you needn't a large disc space to store it, now accessing music just a click away, you don't need to visit any stores or have a player before you can play it, just go to youtube type the name or even if you don't know the name type a word you heard from the song and you're sure to locate it, the music industry and the world has thus come far. My brother in law met Dave Gahan while setting up the lighting and sound at his solo concert in Philly. He gave my brother in law some advice.."Don't do drugs". WHAT?! okay. Got it. My brother in law said that you could tell he was not thinking soundly..almost a paranoid schizophrenia type. Totally F’d up his Sh*t. But then he did the sound check and he was like, “this guys still a genius”. Musically he’s still got it. He was hoping for great conversation but got “Don’t do drugs” instead. Can’t have everything my friend. Similar to when Forest Gump decided to stop running..what are we going to do now?

There is no doubt about that, in the album The last two songs, Blue Dress and Clean, are continued as if they were one piece. Clean is my favorite song of the album I think it is because it contains an acoustic base of electric bass

I got to know of the Legendary Violator Album through one of my bosom pals(he is way older than me tho)-he played it almost every weekend on repeat. I had no knowledge about the band Depeche Mode, until I heard that masterpiece(Violator) so I had to look up its creators. Depeche mode immediately became one of my favorite electronic band. The Violator was and is indeed a big hit and actually was the album that propelled Depeche Mode into international stardom. I even read somewhere that the Violator is actually the bands first album to reach the top 10 on the Billboard. Now CD and Cassettes,believe it or not CDs and Cassettes are still around in the audio market. Although they have had their best times. I did find cassette more interesting,'cause after I was done listening a track or album on it, I had to rewind it- the good old days. However,due to technological advance we now have YouTube, Spotify,etc where music and other media products can be easily accessed. This post just made me nostalgic. Thanks man, and Happy May Day

the band violator was a Brazilian band, if I'm not mistaken, I live in Venezuela relatively close to brazil and this band in the years 2006 0 2010 I do not remember very well became famous here in venezuela, that by the way they came to venezuela to a concert I could not go at that time because I did not have the economic resources to pay the entrance fee.
