What The Steem Blockchain Sounds Like (RAW AUDIO)

in music •  7 years ago  (edited)

Hello Steemians, ever been curious about what the blockchain sounds like? Me too!

I downloaded the most recent blockchain from @furion's comment in this thread and converted it to raw audio in Audacity.

The 10GB blockchain file ended up being 72 hours in Audacity, if anyone is interested, I will be posting a link to the complete audio track...

Below is the first hour's audio, please be advised the volume is very loud, and data doesn't always sound pleasant.

Fun idea! So you just read the file in as a .wav or something?

Yeah, imported into Audacity as raw data with the following set.

It would also be interesting to associate individual blockchain operations with particular sounds so that you can actually "hear" what's happening on the blockchain.

I like this alot followed

Thank you!

Dude, you may be onto something. I had a friend in high school who knew all the tones on a keypad. You could type a number on the phone and she would know what number it was from the other end of the phone. I wonder if each of these soundwaves could be individually propagated and compared to what is actually happening in the blockchain at the time. Then the sound could be correlated to the specific task happening. Thanks for sharing @granturismo89
