So this song was done 2 nights back,

and I actually spent quite a bit of time on it. It began with the drums and Track 2, and I thought those sounded awesome so I spent a little more time than usual with them. I'm stoked how it came out in the end, I initially had another track on here, but I thought it was too cluttered, so I left it as is. Worked out nicely! Let's get into the walkthrough.

Listen to 1 here.

Track 1 is the drums,

which I added a little extra delay to, which really helped fill in the whole song a lot more. The kick/snare portion is pretty straight forward, with the first snare coming in before the 2 beat, gives it a little more bounce. The hihat part I added is my favorite part of the drums, it's 32nd notes at times, and adds a weirdness to the whole I like a lot. Track provides the main progression: || F, E, D | F, E, D, C# :|| That is mirrored by the gong sound of Track 5, although the gong is a lot quieter, just accentuates Track 2 more. So we are in D minor, keeping the progression simple. I like how it drops to the C# the second time around, with the harmony of the other instruments making it really want to resolve.

Track 4 comes in after the 1st

8 measures each time around (each section has a little drum break for 2 bars as seen in the blank spots in the overview). It's the "bass" track, and does follow the notes of Tracks 2 and 5, but it also has a 32nd note fill at the end of each measure. It sounds like a squishy, buzzy sort of rolling sound, and I like how that added more to the rhythm section than harmonizing with the melody. Track 6 is a synth that adds a little harmonizing melody. I've added the screenshot of it below, so you can see what it plays.

The last track I added,

and the most important, as it really is the main melody in the track, is Track 3. It's a synth voice sort of sound, and plays a simple progression: || F, A, D | D, F, E, A :|| although there are some passing tones in between some of that section. I basically just was dropping the octave down and up kind of randomly, but I did try and accentuate the ends of measures and transitions. With a little tweaking after the fact, it worked out well. I really like how it adds a pretty harmony, but with a strange tone, jumping all over the place but still being in key.

I hope you have enjoyed my walkthrough and the track! Thanks for supporting my blog/music!
