GRAPTHAR'S SONG OF THE DAY: PENTAGRAM "FOREVER MY QUEEN"

I feel like lately, I've been sharing a lot of bands

who were known for being too ahead of their time, often to their own detriment. These guys were ABSOLUTELY that. They formed in 1971, so Black Sabbath had JUST released their first album, and heavy metal was just beginning. They were an incredibly heavy band, and really original, but somehow were looked over by most of the music industry, possibly due to the heavy partying they were known for. Their singer later became a serious heroin and crack addict, and was living in his parent's basement, but he then got clean, and Pentagram reformed, and have a whole new life amongst a younger generation just discovering them.

This song is the perfect representation of them.

It starts out with a heavy beat, and then the guitar and bass comes in, just crushing everything. The riff they play later became like THE signature metal riff. Playing powerchords on the I, VII and flat II is the quintessential heavy riff that all teenagers learn when they pick up guitar. The vocals are kind of Ozzy-esque, with the 60's psych sort of flair, but none of the pretension and goofiness of later 70's stadium rock.

Enjoy the tune!

thanks, I appreciate the support!

Did you see the documentary on them? Lead singer was living with parents as he nursed a serious crack and heroin addiction. Last I heard he was in jail for beating up his mom. I like their music though

Yeah! It was really intense. He was so fucked up for so long, it's kind of surprising that he even got clean. Wow, did that happen recently? never heard about that. But ya their songs are so good haha.

Thanks for posting this, I had not even heard of the band before now. You discover new music every day. I can't believe they are from the Black Sabbath era.

You're very welcome! Yeah super early heavy metal!
