Eek-a-Mouse - Ganja Smuggling
Eek-a-Mouse is the
stage moniker of reggae artist Ripton Joseph Hylton. He took the name from a racehorse he used to bet on. He began his music career in the late '70s, and through the '80s had a number of hit songs including Wild Like a Tiger and this tune. He has worked a number of famous artists and musicians in the Jamaican reggae scene, and still writes and records new music.

I really love the timbre
of reggae from this era, and this song in particular. It definitely has a different feeling than earlier, more "classic" reggae such as Bob Marley stuff, but also doesn't sound like the more mainstream reggae to emerge in the late '80s and '90s. His vocals are incredible, which is definitely important in reggae, as the rest of the instruments are keeping to a relatively "simple", constant progression.
Enjoy today's song! Thanks for checking out my blog, and Steem On!
