You can use these Altered Scale patterns to play outside notes. Here is an example of me playing this scale in the Key of E for the beginning and ending of a song in order to demonstrate the tonal qualities. The other part of the lick is in A7 or A Mixolydian and or A Blues Scale

so it has a minor and a major 3rd, diminished fifth and minor 7. Something like a phrygian with a major 3rd?

hi @pedromrmourato yes indeed. It is a great scale when you have an altered dominant 7th chord for the V chord of the progression. Like a II-V-I and the V chord is like an E7(#9) or the Jimi Hendrix chord some like to call it.
