Keeping Hope Alive During Difficult Times - I Know the Sun Is Rising Where I Stay

in music •  7 years ago

This song was written the same night we realized who won the presidential elections here in the USA. It was too depressing for words. Young people were especially affected. My daughter holed herself up in her room for a while then called me in. She tried to sing me her new song but kept breaking into tears. This is the only take she managed to get through all the way. Edden, I am so proud of you.

We adults need to make sure we are doing our best for the wonderful young people growing up as hatred and racism raises its ugly head all around them. Because they do see it in their schools. Sometimes in their teachers. Just keep that in mind.

And music. We need lots of healing and uplifting music.

Peace.

Beautiful. My daughter sobbed the night of the election, so yours is not alone in her emotions, then or possibly now. I was so happy to see that my daughter very recently put her picture of Hillary back up, after having tucked it into a drawer as too painful after the election, along with a note across it reading, "BETTER TIMES ARE COMING." I hope our girls bring in those better times. Thank you for posting this and tell your daughter she is so talented!

Thank you so much for sharing your story. That means a lot 💕🕊

Oh wonderfull! Tell your daughter she IS the goodness she is singing about. <3

Oh Clara, I will!
Such a sweet thing to say. Hope you are well 🌈

Lovely, such a pleasant voice, you can feel the heartfulness, and the hope despite it all.

It was definitely full of heart. Thanks for the comment Amir!

Beautiful and touching - the song, the singing, what you wrote - with people like you and your super talented daughter around there is always hope.

Gideon, right back at you 🌞✨!

Oh yes. @icmultitudes, Trump's great great grandfather was 95% likely (according to experts) married to a freed black slave lady - see my latest Ecotrain post - so things so appear to be moving backwards....

That was quite the history lesson you gave us on your post! I read it but need to go back and look more closely. I've always been interested in Suriname.

Yes, sorry for the lesson but I was thinking, "This is the POTUS we're talking about so I need to give some detail :)" I tried to be merciful.

This is a beautiful song and your daughter is really talented
