Producing Hip Hop Beats With Instrumentals # 21 - Looking Back ( FREE DOWNLOAD)

Acoustic Grand Piano 1.png

For this hip hop instrumental beat, I started off with the sound Acoustic Grand Piano in the vsti sample tank. As you can see in the screenshot above is the main pattern to the main melody. Looks pretty easy and not to complicated right?

After I laid down the foundation melody to get the instrumental music going, I then started to work on the drums for the beat. I like to keep my drum patterns simple because it allows the melody to flourish. Some of my beats have simple drum works and some have complicated drum patterns with a lot of break downs. It all depends on the type of vibe that I'm getting off the beat. Make sure to listen to what your instrumental music is telling you when you are creating it because music speaks to us and if you can't hear your own music that you are creating then you're going to have a tough time bonding with your own creation in my opinion.

1st Impression Piano.png

I managed to add a second set of pianos called 1st Impression in the beat and I pulled this sound out of the Purity VSTi. These pianos can be heard supporting the main melody of the instrumental and they can be heard disappearing out of the production at the 34 second mark. When you hear this sound disappear, you will then hear the difference between the acoustic grand piano and the 1st impression piano!

ST Slow Strings.png

The sound that really made the beat come alive were these ST Slow Strings found in the virtual technology instrument, Purity. These strings gave this beat that heavenly sound that it needed and without the strings in this instrumental hip hop beat, it wouldn't sound the same. I also think these strings made the instrumental sound emotional, like someone just past away and the strings are crying on the track and telling the listener that everything is okay because there is still life after death! That's just my opinion and interpretation of what I hear the strings are saying on this instrumental tune.

Bang Di Ethnic.png

The next sound that made the instrumental whole was this ethnic sound that I found in the vsti sample tank called Bang di. This is the sound that sounds like some kind of Indian flute or something or a wind pipe and it comes in at the 22 second mark. I also added some different minor sounds to support the rest of the melody but they were too small to screenshot :-P

Sub Bass.png

Last but not least is the world famous SUB BASS from the VSTi plugin Hypersonic. It's not really world famous, I just said that because I'm always using this sub bass for most of my instrumental hip hop music beats. This bass line is basically going along towards the end of the melody of the beat, can you hear it?

Below is the finished version of the instrumental and it is for free download. If you really like these instrumentals that I am posting, please feel free to leave a comment below, all feedbacks are appreciated, including negative ones as well. Thank You.
