This photo was during my senior year of high school. I was the secondary drum major in the band and we had a jazz feature, which is why I was clapping to the crowd. lol.
So I wrote this piece a year after my freshman season of high school marching band ended. I was determined to write this because back then, I was always about marching band. We had this saying "marching band is love, marching band is life". Oh and also "If you can do it in the dark, you can do it anywhere", was our motto. For those that experienced marching band rehearsal in the night, you know what I'm talking about. Shout out to my marching band buddies out there!
Anyways, my freshman season of marching band had this awesome drumline cadence that worked well with our season show that year, which was Gary P Gilroy's Revolution and Triumph. The season was awesome. We took I think 12th place out of 40 other bands in the 2010 USBands Eastern Division's Championship, which is not bad for a high school marching band comprised of half freshman! This very first composed drumline cadence was to commemorate that season.
This was Senior Day. All the Seniors got recognition and awards.
Hope you like it! It was composed with what resources i had on Musescore. Back then, The musescore software did not have a drumline soundfont, so there was no way to actually write for drumline. But I did the best I could with what we did have instrumentation wise.
