"Music arises from the human heart. When the emotions are touched, they are expressed in sounds. And when it sounds definite forms, we have music. Therefore, the music of a peaceful and prosperous country, is quiet and joyous, and the government is orderly. The music of a country in turmoil shows dissatisfaction and anger, and the government is chaotic.

This is true. There is a definite connection between cultural turmoil and the amount of dissonance/loudness present. Every style of music, whether understood or not, exists for environmental reasons.

A friend of mine attended an Insane Clown Posse concert and wrote a beautiful and cheeky article about it in a local publication (he was the head editor at the time). It's a sobering look at a group of people that consume offensive music because it brings them together as a family.

Great post!

It is not the people who explain the music, but the music that defines the person. Society is all these people.

Started with Rock & Roll? Maybe things needed to be shaken up! Good quote!

Rock & Roll is an attitude! There have always been mavericks breaking rules. Difficult to believe, but Beethoven was the R&R of his time, pissing off old people and slowly destroying a lot of principles that classical Viennese music lovers held as unbendable.

Another revolutionary and anarchist! A man of my heart!

Yeah!
