Hey Steem punks & Steem princesses!
Yesterdays lesson was a good launch and for today I thought I would bring the intensity down a bit.
Sublime - What I got
Level: Easy/Begginner
We all have been hanging out at a party and having a good time. If you want to pump the party up more, what is a better way than to break out the guitar and sing something a ton of people know. This song is a great way to have a nice big crowd singing along. First off lets kick off this tutorial by listening to the actual track its self. check it out here:
This song is in the key of Gmaj, exactly like yesterdays lesson, so this chord progression should not be very unfamiliar to you. It Jumps simple from a GMaj to a Dmaj. Check out the tabs and get a nice feel for how this is played on paper. check those out here:

If you cant read tabs, I recommend you learn. It will fast track your learning this skill by a significant amount. If you need some help, refer to this guide right here:

Start by just following this song with single strums and work your way up to doing the full on stum pattern. This is especially useful when trying to sing along while you play. You need to feel comfortable with simplifying the stumming pattern down to single strums. This will help you 10 fold. The guitar is about muscle memory, and muscle memory takes time and practice. Take a look at this song in acoustic form. Watch closely at the fingering of the chords:
Moving on to the solo of this song.
This is where things can get into the intermediate to expert. If you are interested in learning the solo, take it one step at a time. This is a closeup of the solo with a tutorial. Check it out here:
Here are some tabs included specifically for the solo : https://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/tab/sublime/what_i_got_tabs_45714
It is not too challenging so I believe you can do it with some solid practice.
It requires 20 mins per day of practice in order to learn this skill well. So be sure to take your 20 mins and work your fingers in different ways. Refer back to part one of this guide and learn that song before moving on to this song including the solo. The lead will be much easier for you.
It is important to also know terminology when it comes to guitar. If you missed any of the words I say , be sure to do a google AND a youtube search on how to do the technique. Follow the future guides for a good direction to learning this instrument. Keep practicing these songs and ROCK ON!
