I am fascinated by musical memory. Hearing a song can trigger a really visceral memory regardless of how much time has passed. We can feel the emotions we felt in that memory. Recall smells, colors, surrounding events, and people. This experience seems further amplified when the music is something we composed.
I composed this piece as a child going through some difficult stuff. The memories attached to this composition both in writing it and the one time I randomly performed it creates a stirring of deep emotions and catharsis. Simple melody and harmonies of an untrained child lacking a means of expression. Pardon the amateur recording and slightly out of tune piano.
