Thanks for a great post! Having Music Education, Vocal Performance, and Vocal Pedagogy degrees, it's wonderful to remind myself about the simple joys of music instead of the day to day teaching of it. These videos were awesome.

Wow, how wonderful you sing.

How many years have you been studying music?

I was a singer in a band professionally touring all over the US and have a degree in Music Business at UCLA. Now I just play guitar for fun.

How many students do you have? It must be fun singing every day.

There are lots of musicians on Steemit and some great singers. Hey, would you like to join us at Steemit Open Mic?

It's a live music venue on Steemit and people sing and play music for the community.

Would you or some of your students like to sing and earn some Steem?

I have been studying piano since I was 6, and singing for a lot longer! ☺️ My husband is a great guitar player, @michaeljohnson! You should connect with him too! You'd have lots in common.

I currently have 35 students, and let me tell you...It is finally a joy to be doing what I went to school for. It's a dream come true and soooooo therapeutic!

I participated in the last 2 open Mics, and they were fun to do! I'll do more in the future!

Thank you for sharing your time and knowledge with us! Looking forward to learning more about you!

Invite your husband to play one for us too. That would be awesome!

Great post, will use it my prods ;) upvoted & following... Power!!!

This is dope. I'm saving the video to check it out later. I'm a hip hop head. We know and love the science of rhythm.

The rhythm video is my favorite one and rhythm is the first music we are exposed to in our mother's womb when we feel and then hear her heart beat.

It is believed that rhythm was the first music people played but music is so ancient that it precedes the written word so there is no way to document that.

If you make music you should watch them all for sure.

Definitely will watch it in it's entirety.

Go pentatonic scale! haha Great post. I had to resteem it so I have it "bookmarked". :)

dope post learned alot from this .i needed some music theory

Fascinating read. So much so that it got me to do some digging about music and health.

"Does Music Have Healing Powers? We now know through controlled treatment outcome studies that listening to and playing music is a potent treatment for mental health issues. Research demonstrates that adding music therapy to treatment improves symptoms and social functioning among schizophrenics. Further, music therapy has demonstrated efficacy as an independent treatment for reducing depression, anxiety and chronic pain. "

Music can affect the physical world in a tangible way so it's no surprise it can treat illnesses. When my bass player was diagnosed with brain cancer he was treated in a variety of ways including conventional treatment and vibrational frequencies.

Only two treatments immediately put his cancer in remission. Diet and vibration therapy.

Every thing has a frequency including healthy human cells and if you broadcast frequencies tuned to healthy cells your body will start to resonate in the same frequencies through a process called entrainment.

A basic definition of entrainment is the tendency for two oscillating bodies to lock into phase so that they vibrate in harmony.

It was discovered by a scientist named Christian Huygens who discovered that when two pendulum clocks were set to swing at different rates they would eventually fall into rhythm with one another and swing at exactly the same rates. This concept was later observed to be a basic law of physics.

Music is like oxygen to me. Great post

Breathe deep bro. Exhale. Repeat.

Very interesting. As a former sound technician I am enjoying it even more.

The fact of the matter is good knowing all these details thank you from the heart

A very well explained post on how music works. I grew up in a family of musicians and music educators, however not many folks know these things and it is wonderful to hear simple yet professional videos on this subject. I am enjoying this immensely. - Troy

It will take a while for you to watch these but you'll be glad you did. I watch them more than once but that's because I play music so it helps to burn it into my brain.

Upvoted and also resteemed!

Awesome. I own a music school in California. I always try to stress to students the importance of being connected to the rhythm section. We are performance based, so they sometimes have to learn through "train wreck" :-) I love the process of seeing them connect. Great post.

As yet, I have not had time to watch all the videos on here but I will later on. I would like to point out at this stage that I do not read music other than the absolute basics of standard notation and some guitar tab. However, I have been playing by ear for 55 years now and I get a huge amount of enjoyment out of playing both for my own entertainment and to anyone who cares to listen. I am in awe of the work that you do with the steemit open mic sessions and thoroughly enjoy being a part of them. Keep up the great work you are doing, both with the open mic and with your own writing. 👏👏👏

Thanks for the resteem

It is unbelievable what music can do - make you happy, sad, heal you... thanks great post

Excelent! What are we without music? :)

I can't even begin to imagine what life would be like without music.

life without music would be flat.jpg

Wow its going to take me a while to get through all this but looks very worth a go!

I bookmarked this post for later video watching round. For sure Music connects. Not only with ourselves, but also with others. Whenever going to a music events, festival, indoor club, electronic dance, bands or even classical music at a concert hall, we can experience the connections music makes with the people around as. Generally music makes people move away from all the stress, be in the moment, especially when concentrating on the music...the later also helps a lot to more appreciate the music. Interestingly, experimental and abstract 'music' is something that can trigger my mind big time. Sometimes it cannot really be called music in mass market terms, but more like 'noise' and 'sounds', but they can be very stress relaxing for me. I generally like the underground stuff, the non main stream stuff. That explains probably my over what the mass would call 'weird'.

One of my favorite things about playing music is it puts me in the moment. Like surfing. You're not thinking of the future or past, you're just alive right now.

I have exactly the same, although for me it is listening to music, since I dont play an instrument or sing :)
