Turning Your Audience Into Supporting Fans - Her Music Is Free But Fans Paid It Forward To The Tune Of $1.2 Million

Amanda Palmer is an amazing musical artist who gives her music away for free and people pay her anyway. Not only is she a talented musician, but she's a living example of how social networking can be applied to supporting your passion.

If you're a musician that is struggling with getting your music out to the world, building your audience and wondering how you're going to do all that and still eat, this Ted Talk she did will inspire you.

She tells her story of how after signing with a label and selling 25,000 CD's, which the label considered a failure, she took control of her music and gave it away for free.

Building a loyal following, they helped her crowd-fund her next release to the tune of $1.2 million dollars, the largest crowd-funded music project in history.

Listening to her is an inspiration for any creative artist to learn how to engage with your audience and turn them into loyal, supporting fans.

I love her voice for artists and I specifically love the work and money she has put into Patreon. She's an artist who would be great to pull to the Steemit platform. Patreon is great, but it has its flaws in connecting smaller artists with their fans. Fans kinda have to come to them, which is excellent for artists with followings like Amanda Palmer or even The Gregory Brothers, but not always so easy for smaller artists, musicians, podcasters, and makers. Would love to see her jump over to Steemit as an Influencer.

That would be awesome to have her on Steemit.

If she could be lured to Steemit it would probably be a huge "twofer" in that we'd most likely get Neil Gaiman as well. I'd really like to see them live sometime. The nights they host combining his readings and her music are incredible. "An Evening With Neil Gaiman and Amanda Palmer" is a great listen. Highly recommended.

Wow,music live show,I love it.

It's not a live show. It's a Ted Talk.

love a good ted talk!

She is awesome. This is a good one. makes me think of the song by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Give It Away Now.

This is really good insight and truly profound. Thanks for the great share.

I knew you'de like it. The way she tells the story is very engaging too.

Yes, she is indeed a great presenter, people person, and speaker. It comes very natural due to her experience, especially for being a statue. That was very cool.

Love Ted talks! My favorite is the one on procrastination.

Procrastinate Now!

Quite revolutionary actually. What an inspirational lady as well as an incredibly brave one. Trust is one of the hardest things to do especially in today´s day and age.. really enjoyed this thank you!

What she describes is like jumping into the arms of the universe and trusting it will catch you.

Inspiring :)
