“Keep you doped with religion, and sex, and TV, And you think you're so clever and classless and free”
song ~ “Working Class Hero”
artist ~ John Lennon
As soon as you're born they make you feel small
By giving you no time instead of it all
'Til the pain is so big you feel nothing at all
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be
They hurt you at home and they hit you at school
They hate you if you're clever and they despise a fool
'Til you're so fucking crazy you can't follow their rules
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be
When they've tortured and scared you for 20 odd years
Then they expect you to pick a career
When you can't really function, you're so full of fear
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be
Keep you doped with religion, and sex, and T.V.
And you think you're so clever and classless and free
But you're still fucking peasants as far as I can see
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be
There's room at the top they are telling you still
But first you must learn how to smile as you kill
If you want to be like the folks on the hill
A working class hero is something to be
If you want to be a hero well just follow me (Image source)

Taken from Lennon’s first album after the breakup of his band The Beatles, “Working Class Hero” is one of his most political songs.
Let the Revolution Begin
Essentially, the song is about the plight of the working class. Lennon proclaimed it a “revolutionary song,” adding that he hoped it would be “a warning to people.”
Let the Peasants Rise Up
Even though their standard of living was improving in the post-war boom years, and even though the working class was ostensibly being welcomed into the middle class, Lennon warned them that their plight was not improving. He maintained that they were still “peasants.”
When he says “you’re still fucking peasants,” he seems to be denigrating the working class. But he later clarified that he was only implying that they were still viewed by the powers-that-be as peasants, and still treated as peasants.
Let There be Peace
In the closing lines, his invitation to “just follow me” implies that the only way to become free from the class struggle is to do what he did. That is, promote peace and love. That probably seemed like a good idea at the time. It still does. (Image source)John Lennon – "Working Class Hero" (Right-click to hear on YouTube)

Great, my mind-switch worked. The song was stuck in my head for the few days that I spent considering it and composing it and then posting it. I was hoping that by clicking "POST," I could digitally transfer it into the brain of another human.
Repeat until it threatens your sanity. :-)

If people do not appreciate truth, that's their problem. Cheers!
