in music •  6 years ago

Waiting for the last movie of Luca Guadagnino, #Suspiria, i'm comfortating myself listening to the album layin on the bed with my bose plugged in. Do yourself a favour and listen this highly piece of music where music is a synonimous of masterpiece in this case.

ThomYorke gives us 2 sides album which contins the whole soundtrack of the movie. It's a bit long and complex listening since many of them need to be contextualized as movie scenes so they may result pointless as trakcs but they are not if seen along with the movie.
Anyway, starting from this, you can barely image scenese and the movie plot.

Yorke, composed a powerful, significant and complete album, made of chorus, synthpop, mysterious, thriller, hopeful sounds for a movie that is expected to be rich and vast.

I think that #Yorke properly fits the role of someone who can really express creep, restlessness, anxiety and anguish and this likely is the reason he has been chosen as the composer of the soundtrack of this movie.

Following lines are about my little review of each track and my personal top 3.

A storm that took everything: Intro Track, scarying and well fitting for an horror movie introduction. Definitely not suitable for weddings.

The hooks: Bit scarying again, made mainly by horrorific human noises, steps, breathings, stabbings, knives and bass crescendos. Well it's called hooks though. Would be useful as sleeping song for nannies.

Suspirium: Amazing piano track. The best to me. Glory, melanchony, dreams, drugs, psichedelia, just few words that easily comes during a listening.

Belongings thrown a river: A full scary crescendo. Mainly sinth, electro guitar, ambient noises, smokes and screams. Perfect soundtrack for a killer minde.

Has ended: Endless trip. Amazing. If i close my eyes i'm transported to the roof of a van smoking weed. 60's flavoured. Hawaianas, flip flops, highy suggested before listening.

Klemperer Walks: Church piano track with some toppings of synth + electro + violins. Struggling and redemption to me. This is suitable for weddings isntead (maybe just for mine)

Open Again: Thom is back with his struggling closed eyes piano plays. Psychedelic, strong, please stay.

Sabbath Incantation: Gregorian chants, pretty creepy and solemn.

The inevitable pull: steps, running, xylo, followings.

Olga Destruction's: starring crescendo piano, creepy voices remembering jocelyn pooch. Ambient and atmoshpere noises.

The conjuring of Anke: religious female voice leads a slow rythmed chorus. Ideal as a lullaby

A light green: just an instrumental crescendo noise

Unmade: A breeze of romance in this album. Not properly the style of the previous tracks but still competitive. This may be the background of a dance scene, IMGO.

The jumps: Back to 80's, dance suggested

Volk: "People" in german language, this is again a creepy piano crescendo composed by violin and synth. Pretty monotonic but hypnotizing.

The universe is different: a far guitare comes along Thom voice on some countryside 80's track, remember something of magic

The balance of things: loved this. Remember me the soundtrack by Goblin of "Deep Red" movie which may be an homage

Suspirium Finale: Another longer version of the main track but an additional creepy part.

A chair of one: an eternal moan

Voiceless terror: as the name suggests, without any voice this is a sort of eternal woman scream. Suggested as a ringtones or email notification.

The epilogue: Closing track, made of fading and white noises and some synth.

My TOP 3:
1)Suspirium
2)Has Ended
3)Klemper Walks

Well done Thom. Look further to see the movie.
