I'm really excited to finally be showing this promo

I shot for my friend Josiah Williams, an amazing music artist I had the opportunity to work with when I visited Milwaukee for New Years. The day we had together was pretty hectic. We'd never met before, only chatted briefly on Facebook and on the phone, and now we had to put together 4 promos for his upcoming album. Talk about an insane task! Right? On the fly, let's try this, let's do that...four concepts...albeit short, but still...four.

This one was inspired as we walked around the location, a church/community center in his neighborhood. As we were heading down the stairs to start the first concept (which will come later) I was like, 'wait a second.' It was a short stairwell but for some reason it was super dark. The other concepts we'd come up with were about quick cuts, back and forth, and I was like. 'Light, dark, light, dark.'

Originally each cut was going to be the slow warming up of the bulbs I had brought.

Bright as well, hot as hell, and I swear to god, at least 20 years old. But, when I got it to the cutting floor, it just didn't feel right. So, instead I cut it like how you see. I suppose I could have figure out how to create that affect in After Affects or something, but time due to the budgets were limited. Lessons for me to learn for next time.

We were listening to the same 2 tunes for four hours, but they didn't get old. So, that should tell you a little something about his music. As a Christian Rapper he pulls some amazing bars...I'd definitely take a minute to check him out.
